Baseball Team Slips In Bellville The Giddings baseball team lost an important game falling to Bellville after managing a 4-0 first inning lead. Problems on the mound forced Giddings to use three pitchers; T. Masek, S. Francis and T. Marlow. The team failed to hit consistently, a problem that hurts the Buffs, especially today, considering that the fight for the district championship will probably came down to a battle with Bellville. In the final tally Giddings slips 6-4.
Losing to the Bellville squad brings Giddings to a district record of 2-1, they currently hold the second place spot. Bellville, in first, claims an undefeated district record of 3-0. Caldwell follows with a 2-1 record and is in third because of their loss to Giddings. Smithville holds at 1-1. LaGrange and Navasota are winless; LaGrange is at 0-2 and Navasota is at 0-3.
Buffs Prosper With 6th Inning Rally 3/26/08 A late sixth inning rally by the Giddings baseball team allowed the squad to overcome Caldwell, a victory that brings the Buffaloes district record to 2-0.
At the end of three innings the score was tied at 3-3. Caldwell then hit Giddings for two unanswered runs in the fifth inning, resulting in a 5-3 Caldwell lead. Caldwell added two more runs in the top of the sixth but Giddings fought back racking up six runs to take a two run advantage going into the seventh inning. The Hornets were unable to score in the top of the seventh as the game ended with a 9-7 Giddings win.
Giddings lefthander Steven Francis was noted as the winning pitcher.
Giddings will play in Bellville Saturday, March 29th at 2 P.M. Bellville also holds a 2-0 district record, claiming wins over LaGrange and Smithville.
Buffs Win District Opener Against Rattlers 3/20/08 The Giddings baseball team traveled to Navasota to begin district play on Thursday claiming a 10-6 win over the rattlers. Trey Masek pitched a complete game for the Buffaloes to get the win. Key defensive plays and great hitting allowed Giddings to bring home the win and start district competition off on the right foot.
Giddings will host Caldwell on Tuesday, March 25th and then travel to Bellville on Saturday, March 29th.

Giddings Boys Win Four: Drop Two Tournament Photos By: Lynnann Plumlee 2/24/08 The Buffaloes traveled to the Battle of the Bell Tournament in Rockdale and Cameron this weekend winning four and losing two. On Friday the boys lost to Cameron 10-8 posting eight errors while they struggled on defense. Later the squad turned things around beating Caldwell 10-4 and Llano 5-4.
Saturday, Giddings hammered Navasota 14-4, handed Cameron a 9-5 loss in a revenge match, but then lost to (Waco) Robinson 14-4. Robinson went on to take first place in the tournament. The boys bats were on fire but their defense labored in the field. The Buffaloes played six games which depleted their pitching options. Rush Plumlee, Ethan Kmoch, Ty Marlow, Trey Masek, Steven Francis, Philip Fritsche, Brooks Marlow and Lance Krause all pitched. Overall the Buffs had a very good outing considering three of the pitchers had seen little time on the high school mound. The Buffs put Caldwell and Navasota on the bus early, a big accomplishment since Giddings has received little respect within the district. Alan Dock, who slammed two home runs and made key plays in centerfield, was an "All Tournament" selection. Giddings is scheduled to host Taylor on Monday, February 25 and then compete in the Sealy tournament Thursday- Saturday (February 28- March 1). Cameron 10, Giddings 8; Giddings 10, Caldwell 4; Giddings 5, Llano 4 Giddings 14, Navasota 4; Giddings 9, Cameron 5; Robinson 14, Giddings 4
