July 18, 2010 Giddings Police Officer Adam Shepard met with Raul Segura and Teresa Hayes in the lobby of the Police Station at approximately 2:56 A.M. The two individuals spoke to Officer Shepard in reference to an assault that had occurred. The victim, Rual Segura stated that while he was at his home located in the 200 block of Cactus Street he was assaulted. The case is pending investigation, no immediate arrests were made.
Police officer Lorenzo Hernandez spoke with a woman at the police station about her involvement in a criminal trespass warrant. No charges were pursued.
JULY 19, 2010 Giddings Police arrested two individuals while attempting to serve a DWI - Failure to Appear warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Sunrise. The subject, Colby Allen Caruthers age 22 of Giddings, was not at the residence but was located nearby. Caruthers ran away from Officer D.A. Griffin but was caught after a "taser" was deployed on him. While officers were in the process of taking Caruthers into custody, his girlfriend, Tiffany Lee Stafford, age 18 of Giddings, interfered and attempted to intervene and assist with Caruthers' flight. Both Caruthers and Stafford were arrested. Caruthers was charged with Evading Arrest and Stafford was charged with Interfering with Public Duties.
JULY 21, 2010 Giddings Police Officer Lacey Carvin met with Nashanda Crockett in reference to a theft. Crockett told Officer Carvin that her father-in-laws wheel chair, valued at $350, had been stolen from the back of her pickup while it was parked at a business on Brenham Street. The case is active and under investigation.
Giddings Police Det. Landis Lehmann met with a woman who reported that her boyfriend had assaulted her. Police are investigating an Assault Family Violence case.
JULY 22, 2010 Police are investigating a theft that occurred at a residence in the 900 block of East Houston Street. Josie Peterson reported that items had been taken from her home recently. Five items of jewelry were reported missing. The items were valued at $2,750.
Giddings Police Officer Adam Shepard investigated a Leaving the scene of an accident complaint in the 2300 block of East Austin Street.
Giddings police were dispatched to a business located at 374 East Austin Street in reference to a Criminal Mischief complaint. The owner of the store said that three males broke the mirror in the bathroom. The mirror was valued at $49.
JULY 24, 2010 James Lee Moore, age 42 of Giddings was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs at approximately 4:56 A.M. Police officers went to a residence in the 500 block of Titus Street to locate a subject who had and outstanding Felony warrant. While searching the residence, numerous items of drug paraphernalia were located, along with 17 Hydrocodone pills. The pills were inside a plastic bag that was inside a cigarette box. Police also located and seized a glass crack pipe and two metal crack pipes.
Esmerelda Rios-Flores, age 24 of Austin, was stopped at 7:05 A.M. for a traffic violation in the 2000 block of East Austin Street. Rios-Flores was arrested for Driving While License Invalid/Suspended, No Insurance - 2nd, and Failed to Display Display Drivers License -2nd.
July 25, 2010 Johnny Ondrea Kelly, age 31 of Giddings, was arrested after a 1:56 A.M. disturbance at a local bar. Giddings Police Officers Lorenzo Hernandez, Steve Spencer, Greg Cummings and Sgt. Farrah Ramsey arrived to break up a crowd that had gathered outside the bar located in the 2100 Block of East Hempstead. Kelly was reportedly intoxicated and was belligerent, screaming and shouting about his girlfriend, his daughter and all their problems. Kelly had an active protective order placed against him by his girlfriend. Kelly was arrested for Public Intoxication and Violation of a Protective Order and transported to the Lee County Jail.
Officer D.A. Griffin arrested Gloria Reyes Hernandez, age 46 of Houston, for an active warrant. During a traffic stop Officer Griffin learned that Hernandez had a warrant out from the Austin Police Department for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. She was taken into custody and transported to the Lee County Jail.
