Harris County Mounted Patrol rides through Giddings Sunday Monday, February 15, 2010 Members of the Harris County Sheriff's Office made their way from Houston to Austin Sunday during the 61st Annual Pony Express Ride to Austin. The mounted patrol, which included 40 riders and their horses, carried personal invitations to Rodeo Houston for Gov. Rick Perry and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. The group began its ride Sunday morning in Hockley and passed through downtown Giddings at 3:10 P.M. Traveling in a relay-style caravan, riders passed the invitations to each other as they made their way to the state capitol, arriving in Austin on Monday. Rodeo events are scheduled to begin Friday, February 19th.

FEBRUARY 1, 2010
Deputy Crockett and Deputy Lapham were dispatched to a
disturbance at 4135 Deputy Durrenberger put up cows that were out on FM 3403. These same cows continue to get out. The Sheriff’s Office is trying to get in touch with the owner’s before they are taken to the auction barn.
FEBRUARY 2, 2010 A motorist reported that a vehicle ran off the roadway and into some brush on FM 696 West. Deputy Easley assisted Trooper Weiser at the scene. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A resident on PR 5000 called and reported that she was having problems with her adult son. He pushed her down and she wants him to leave. Deputy Ray was dispatched and the son left the residence and would be staying at a friend’s house for the night. Dispatch received a 9-1-1 hang up call from CR 418. Deputy Crockett was dispatched to the address. The people at the house were fine and they advised they were having phone problems due to the rain. Deputy Crockett spoke to a complainant who advised that some cattle appeared to be starving to death on CR 320. He advised they had six round bales but the cows can’t get to it. No one has been to the property for two weeks. The case is still under investigation. Chief Deputy Kothmann stopped and put cows up that were running along Hwy 21 East at the Yegua Creek. A motorist reported a black colored jeep sitting under a tree on FM 696. Deputy Ray investigated and spoke to the owner who advised the vehicle had broken down and had help on the way. Several callers reported a fire on Hwy 290 West at Color Star Growers. Deputy Durrenberger was dispatched and reported that it was a control burn. Deputy Ray checked out a vehicle that was parked at the church on CR 133. All was okay. The Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call from a subject reporting that his brother had gone ape wild and was throwing things around the house and had threatened their mother. Deputy York was dispatched and the matter was settled.
FEBRUARY 3, 2010 Deputy York spoke to the mail carrier who reported that someone’s mailbox had been damaged on CR 208. A caller spoke to Deputy Crockett regarding telephone harassment. A report was taken and charges are pending. A female came into the Sheriff’s Office and spoke to Deputy York regarding a male subject stalking and harassing her. A report was taken.
FEBRUARY 4, 2010 Captain Gonzales and Deputy Carvin checked on a suspicious person on FM 141. The caller stated that a man pulled over in the bar ditch and walked over to her residence and asked for directions to a funeral. The subject had actually slipped off the roadway and was issued a blue form for insurance purposes. A complainant reported a horse with a broken leg on Hwy 77. Deputy Durrenberger checked on the animal and everything is okay.
FEBRUARY 5, 2010 A motorist reported cows out on CR 216 at FM 448. The dispatcher attempted to contact the owner with no success. Deputy Robertson put the cows up. Deputy Durrenberger and Deputy Robertson were dispatched to put cows up on FM 1697. Upon arrival the deputies noticed that the fence was down. Dispatch made contact with the owner. A resident reported a donkey out on FM 3403 @ CR 451. Deputy Aderhold put the donkey up but was unable to make contact with the owner.
FEBRUARY 6, 2010 A motorist reported cows out on CR 208 near the winery. Deputy Robertson was dispatched and was able to get the cows off the roadway. Deputy Easley was dispatched to a domestic disturbance on CR C. A caller reported that her 17 year old daughter held a knife to her throat 2 hours ago. After speaking with the complainant she admitted that she was angry with her daughter for pouring out her vodka and made up the story. Deputy Easley and Deputy Carvin assisted Giddings Police Dept. on a call at Rolling Oaks. A female caller reported a man outside of her apartment that had a gun and was threatening to kill her. One subject was arrested and taken to Lee County Jail.
FEBRUARY 7, 2010 A motorist reported cows out on FM 1624. He reported that these cows are out on the road nearly twice a day. Deputy Lapham put up the cows but has not been able to locate the owner. A motorist reported that there are people riding 4 wheelers and motorcycles up and down CR 138. He was concerned for their safety. Deputy Carvin located the subjects on CR 139 and advised them to put them up for the night. Two callers reported a person walking in the middle of FM 2239 approx 2 miles off FM 448. Deputy Easley patrolled the area but was unable to locate anyone walking. Deputy Carvin and Deputy Aderhold assisted with a civil stand by on CR F after a mother needed assistance getting her daughter’s belongings from her boyfriend’s house.
