Softball/Baseball Postponed4/29/09
Softball The Lady Buffs are scheduled to play West Columbia on Friday night at 8 p.m. in Columbus. The coaches finally reached an agreement about the scheduling of the game, settling on a one game decision instead of a three game series.
Giddings won the right to be named the home team, umpires from our district will cover the plate and second base. Their district will provide officials for first and third bases.

Baseball The Giddings boys will head to Weimar on Friday night to meet Bellville for a tie-breaking game. The game will begin at 7 p.m. The matchup will determine who ends up in first place, since both teams ended the season at 9-1, and will establish tournament seeding.
The teams met twice during district competition and split the pair of games. Giddings beat Bellville in March, 8-2; Bellville edged out Giddings in April, 10-9.

4/25/09 Baseball: Buffs snuff out Sealy 10-1 Giddings took care of business against Sealy Friday night taking a 10-0 1st inning lead and then coasting to the 5th for another run rule win.
Bellville topped LaGrange 8-1 so Giddings and Bellville end the season in a tie, at 9-1, for the district championship.
The two will meet for a tie-breaking matchup next week, a game necessary to determine tournament seeding.
Softball: First Round against W. Columbia Coaches are working on the details of the first round playoff game with West Columbia.
Giddings needs the game be Tuesday or Wednesday instead of Friday or Saturday because three of the Lady Buffs' starters are going to the Regional Track & Field meet in Corpus Christi May 1 & 2.
Softball: Giddings Slides past Columbus 4-3 The Lady Buffs finished 2nd in district (to LaGrange) and will likely play West Columbia (No. 3 in District. 26) next Tuesday in Playoff Game #1
The guys will play one more district matchup, against Sealy, before beginning post-season play. Giddings iscurrently tied with Bellville at 8-1 in district competition.
Giddings beat Bellville in March, then lost to the Brahmas on April 9th. Friday Bellville will meet LaGrange (5-4) who is in third place in the district.
The winner of the district will get a Round 1 bye to start the playoffs. The team that finishes second in District 25 will play the third place team in District 26 which is currently Needville. |
