LIVE UPDATES ![]() Monday 4:30 p.m. Sale Sets New Record The Lee County Jr. Livestock Show set a new sales record this this past Saturday. The total sales figure for the regular sale and the freezer sale combined was $390,800.00. This years event was a financial success with the youth of the area scoring big to help fund their future interests, college or career. The kids that exhibited at the show were rewarded by the community for their hard work and effort that went into raising their animals and into the making of their other show projects. Sunday 11:30 a.m. Brent Cromwell Sells Grand Champion Brent Cromwell's Grand Champion Steer brought $7000.00 at the Livestock Show on Saturday. The steer was purchased by First National Bank, Pumpco and Insurance Network of Texas. The price set the stage for all of the other animals that were sold. The take from the entire show may have set a record, overall prices for animals down the line were higher than in previous years. We will have more details later today when all of the numbers are in. Cromwell Wins Grand Prize ![]() 7:45 p.m. Brent Cromwell of Lee County FFA claimed the Grand Champion honor this evening at the Lee County Jr. Livestock Show. Cromwell was awarded the top spot by Steer Judge David Groschke, Williamson County Extension Agent. This is the second year in a row that Brent has shown the top Steer. Erich Schatte representing Lee County 4-H was awarded the Reserve Champion spot in the group. Thomas Hartfield, a Giddings FFA student, took the Showmanship buckle in the Senior Division. 6:10 p.m. Rodeo Scramble Heifer Show Erich Schatte won the Lee County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo Scramble Heifer Show. 4:45 p.m. Market Goat Judging Lee County 4-H exhibitor Caitie Carney was awarded the Grand Champion banner for her show goat this afternoon by goat judge Jim Missledine. Carney also received the Goat Showmanship honor in the Senior Division. Shelby Drews was picked as Reserve Champion goat exhibitor and Dustin Namken received the nod for the Junior Showmanship title. 3:30 p.m. Grand Champion Lamb Giddings FFA student Kent Kieschnick won this years Lamb contest, Kent showed his Lamb in the Heavyweight class and was given the top honor. Lee County 4-H member Shelby Drews was the Reserve Champion winner. Judging the Lamb category was Jim Missledine. 12:30 p.m. Grand Champion Hog Allison Kaiser was selected as the Grand Champion winner in the hog category this afternoon at the livestock show. Allison's pig received top honors after placing first in the Heavyweight Division. Allison also won Grand Champion yesterday for her pen of chickens. Brad Pierce, County Agent for Travis County judged the hog competition and chose Coby Berger as the Reserve Champion winner in this category. Both contestants represent Lee County 4-H. Friday, 8:05 a.m. Market Swine Show The hog competition portion of the Lee County Jr. Livestock Show began this morning and will last until
approximately 12:00 p.m. This years show consist of eight classes and a
total of 97 exhibitors. The Grand Champion will likely be determined by
noon, and showmanship will follow. Lee County Live will bring you the
update as soon as the winner is announced. 6:15 p.m. Commercial Heifers Curtis Ford of Lee County 4-H claimed the Grand Champion banner for his pen of Commercial Bred Heifers Thursday evening at the show. Cody Morgan got the nod for Reserve Champion. Cody is involved with the Lexington FFA. Top honors for Open Heifers were awarded to Clint Teinert representing Lee County FFA. Lexington FFA student Caity Holt picked-up the prize for her Reserve Champion pen of Open Heifers. 4:15 p.m. Cake Winners Grand Champion Regular Cake - Brittany Eichler Reserve Champion Regular Cake - Jeffery Marburger Grand Champion Decorated Cakes - Emile McManus Reserve Champion Decorated Cake - Sara McManus 3:30p.m. Horse Show Melanie Armstrong was the Grand Champion winner of the first ever Exhibition Horse Show in the Lee County Jr. Livestock Show. Melanie lives in Dime Box and is a member of the Lee County FFA. Amber Schulze, representing Lee County 4-H, was recognized as Reserve Champion. 1:30 p.m. Rabbits Lauren Maass, of Lincoln 4-H, took first prize in the Meat Rabbit competition of the Livestock Show this afternoon. The judge of the rabbit show was Bob Lawrence of the ARBA, he awarded the prize to Lauren and then handed the Reserve Champion banner to Lauren's sister Sarah Maass. Sarah is a member of the Giddings FFA. Thursday, 10:00 a.m. Broilers Allison Kaiser representing Serbin 4-H was the first contestant crowned as Grand Champion at the Lee County Jr. Livestock Show on Thursday. Allison was awarded first place for her pen of broilers by Dr. Lee Cartwright of the Texas A&M Poultry Science Dept. who judged the competition. Reserve Champion Broilers went to Taylor Otte of the Lexington 4-H. |
