Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Giddings police investigated a case of criminal mischief on Sunday, December 20th that involved 15 real estates "For Sale" signs being placed in the yard of a Giddings resident. The signs were the property of five different realtors, three other were "For Sale by Owner" signs.

Officers Anthony Ramirez and Jim Hohertz were patrolling the neighborhood near the Giddings Baptist Church at approximately 8:11 A.M. when they noticed the signs erected in a yard on Acorn Street.

Officer Ramirez made contact with the homeowner who stated that he had noticed the signs earlier when he took his dog out and was about to phone the police. The signs, valued at $750.00, had been stolen from properties listed in the area.

The homeowner showed the officers two holiday yard ornaments that had been moved and placed in an "obscene" manner.

The case was listed as trespassing, but was closed due to no leads. The officers took the signs and made arrangements to return them to their owners.
