Giddings Police make arrests in five separate drug related cases
Witness claims one was involved in the attempted robbery at Mel's Diner 2/3/09 Giddings Police arrested five people in five separate drug related cases last week. The alleged charges range from Possession of Drug Paraphernalia to Possession of a Controlled Substance in a drug free zone. On January 26th Giddings police officers arrested Adaryll Crawford, 29, of Lexington on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance - crack cocaine. According to a witness Crawford is one of the subjects in the attempted robbery at Mel's Diner. At approximately 6:00 a.m. officers Taylor, Byrd, Spencer and Ramirez were dispatched to investigate a report from a witness in the attempted robbery at Mel's Diner which occurred earlier that morning. The witness reported seeing a man fitting the description of one of the robbery suspects, located in the 300 block of East Austin Street. Cpl. Taylor located the subject, Adaryll Crawford, in the 200 block of East Austin Street, Crawford's clothing matched the description given by the witness. When Cpl. Taylor searched Crawford he found approximately 3.1 grams of crack cocaine which Crawford had concealed in a cigarette box. Officer Byrd transported Crawford to the police station, while officers Taylor, Spencer and Ramirez went to the Economy Inn, where Crawford was staying, and obtained further incriminating evidence against Crawford. Crawford was later booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony 3) and taken to the Lee County Jail. The investigation into the attempted robbery of Mel's Diner is ongoing. |
