Local retail store burglarized

A local retail store was burglarized last Tuesday, August 17, 2010. The burglary occurred sometime between the hours of 8 P.M. August 17th and 6 A.M. August 18th.

An unknown suspect reportedly got away with approximately $559.00 in cash.

According to a police incident report released on Monday someone broke out a window at The Grapevine store located at 790 East Austin Street.

A subject was cut while entering the building, police used a swab to collect a blood specimen at the scene. Giddings Police Officer Lacey Carvin said that two checks were left behind. The checks were taken into evidence and will be checked for latent prints and blood evidence. 

Police will also be testing panes of glass and a set of cash register keys that were located at the scene.

The cash was the only thing reported missing from the store. The damaged window was valued at $50.00.
