2/8/09 Giddings ISD had 181 students who competed in the 2009 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo art contest, the group achieved impressive results.

According to the Giddings ISD website, altogether the four Giddings schools sent 175 pieces of 2-dimensional artwork that were judged on January 17th, and six pieces of 3-dimensional artwork which were critiqued on January 22nd.

Giddings ISD brought back a total of 62 first place ribbons, 72 second place ribbons, 3 third place ribbons, and 13 finalists.

Gold Medal and Best of Show winners are as follows:

Gold Medal winners: Dylan Best, 3^rd Grade, Meesaque Faridi, 6^th Grade, Kacie Schatte, 12^th Grade and Josh Hart, 12^th Grade.

Best of Show winners: Sadie Flores, 2^nd Grade, Rowan Mitschke, 5^th Grade, Xenia Puente, 12^th Grade and Tyler Mitchan.

The students were taught by GISD’s art teachers Julie Lucas (GES), Faith Franklin (GIS, GMS) and Eric Mott (GHS).

The reunion committee is in the process of gathering addresses for their classmates that graduated in 1989 from GHS.
