Disorderly Conduct - Fighting charge sends Houston man to jail 

 

3/25/09  A 19 year old Houston man was sent to jail on charge of Disorderly Conduct - Fighting, while a Ledbetter man was ticket for the same offense.

 

On Friday, March 20 at approximately 11:56 p.m. Giddings police received a radio call about a dispute which was in progress in a local parking lot. Giddings police officers Spencer and Shepard responded to the call from Lee County Sheriff's Deputy Easley who witnessed the fight on Highway 290.   

 

Once at the scene the officers found London Hogan, 19 of Houston and Joshua Benson, 19 of Ledbetter in a physical altercation.

 

The officers broke up the fight, arrested Hogan and ticketed Benson for Disorderly Conduct - Fighting as a result of the incident.   

 

Starflight called in to transport accident victim (Updated)

 

3/24/09 

7:30 p.m. The driver of the

all-terrain vehicle, Edwin Bartals, was injured and life-flighted to Austin. The driver of the pick-up was not seriously injured.

 

2:00 p.m. A Starflight medical helicopter out of Austin was called in today during the lunch hour to transport a Lee County man who was involved in a serious accident. The situation took place on the west side of the county, just off County Road 107. (Lee County Live viewer photo)

 

 

The accident involved a pick-up truck and an all-terrain vehicle at the intersection of Private Road 1071 and County Road 107. The wreck was handled by DPS troopers, Lee County Sheriff's deputies, Giddings Volunteer Fire rescuers and the local ambulance service.

Chamber announces Food & Wine Fest winners

3/24/09  The Giddings Area Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the "Best of Fest Contest" which was part of the Food & Wine Festival this past Saturday.

Overall five different wineries and four food venders participated. The event drew over 150 patrons who enjoyed great food, wine and entertainment by Texas Unlimited Band.
