Board Meeting Minutes Immanuel Succumbs To Central In Tough Battle 3/29/08 In what can only be called a physical contest, the Immanuel Knights lost to Central Lutheran of New Haven, Indiana this afternoon. Immanuel entered the game and found themselves struggling to handle Central's quick ball movement and excellent ball handling ability. Central was able to shuffle the ball around well, causing Immanuel's press to be ineffective. The Giddings group was able to trap the ball a few times but Central brought an effective passing game that hurt the Knights down the stretch. Immanuel found themselves behind at the end of one, 8-5. The physical nature of the contest played into the hands of the squad from Indiana, with officials overlooking a lot of contact, prompting a second period technical foul against Tom Schultze, the Immanuel coach who also serves as the tournament president. Central's lead moved to six, 15-9, by the end of the first half. In an unusual move tournament officials replaced a game official, a change that shocked many onlookers who had never heard of an official being removed from a game; at any level of competition level of competition. Central held Allyson Roberts scoreless until the forth period, an accomplishment that complicated things for Immanuel. The Lady Knights have consistently relied on the ability of Roberts who's scoring threat adds to the overall strength of the squad. Kalyn Morgan carried the Lady Knights thru ought the first three periods, managing to score down low and at the perimeter. The third period ended with a score of 26-16, Central continued their lead. The Knights battled into the forth bringing several team members into the scoring effort. Immanuel eventually fell short, succumbing to Central's strong lineup; 36-23. Kayln Morgan once again lead the scoring for the Knights with 13. Allyson Roberts scored 6 points, all in the forth period. Vicki Schimank added 3 and Madison Smith hit one free throw to bring the Lady Knight's final tally to 23 points. The Immanuel squad will fly back to Giddings on Sunday after putting up a grand fight. The Immanuel bunch can be proud of what they were able accomplish during the season and in Indiana and look forward to next year in the hopes of making it to the tournament once again. Tournament photos and scoring information provided by parents and family members of the players.
Lady Knights Slam St. Jacobi Raiders 3/29/08
Immanuel came out strong at the start of this morning's contest claiming a 12-3 lead at the end of the first period. Immanuel continued to add to their lead as they "out-quicked" the St. Jacobi squad stealing the ball and out rebounding their opponent at almost every turn. The half ended with Immanuel on top 26-7. St. Jacobi came out a little more aggressive in the third, pressuring Immanuel into a few turnovers. The Knights managed to increase their lead, despite the adversity, to 35-13 by out-hustling the Raiders who shot too often from the perimeter.
Kayln Morgan was once again the high scorer racking up 18 points. Allyson Roberts added 11, Vicki Schimank tallied 8, Sarah Owens had 5, Madison Smith and Meredith Albers managed 2 each. Next up for the Lady Knights is Central Lutheran from New Haven, Indiana. The two will meet today at 4:15 p.m. Immanuel Girls Fall To Michigan Team 3/28/08
