All-Star Results

All-Stars Lose Championship Game

7/17/08  Our team of 10 & 11 year old all-stars lost a tough game last night to Northwest, falling in the six inning match-up 8-2.

Lee County players fought hard to stay in it but were unable to overcome the intense pressure they deal with at this "sectional championship" level. They faced tough crowds who followed the competition, inconsistent officiating from behind the plate and some were mentally fatigued (something not uncommon in 10 & 11 year olds).

Parents reported that the kids battled to try and overcome these obstacles, and played with sportsmanship throughout all of their all-star tournaments.

Another group of Lee County youngsters we can be proud of.

All-Stars Come Up Short: Lose To Northwest, 5-4

7/15/08  Lee County was unable to get their bats going in the early innings of tonight's game against Northwest, losing in the six inning battle 5-4.

Lee County didn't see much scoring until the 5th and 6th innings when they found themselves struggling to catch up and running out of time.

Northwest, however, scored runs in the early going and then held on to with a one point victory.

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday night to determine the East Champion, they will take the field at 7:00 p.m.

Little Leaguers Begin Final Round Tonight

7/15 08  If the 10 & 11 year old Lee County Little League All-Star team wins tonight's game against Northwest they will be crowned the East Section champion and advance to the Texas East State Tournament in Tyler.

The group is set to begin the final round of their tournament tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Bryan's East Little League fields on E. 25th Street.

Lee County (LC) has remained in the high side of the bracket, winning their first two games. This accomplishment has allowed the team to have nights off in between games which has reduced their road time significantly.

Game one was held on July 11th and LC beat Tyler East by a score of 11-1 in four innings. They took a night off and then returned to take out Northwest in game two, 7-0. Northwest fell to the losers bracket and played the next night, they defeated Harvey to get back to the final.

Northwest will have to beat Lee County tonight and tomorrow night to take the championship.

This LC team is a well rounded group that can hit the ball and is stacked with capable pitchers. Stone Clopton pitched on Sunday so either Ty Kasper, Cody Medack or W.E. Meuth will take the lead role on the mound.

LC All-Stars Kick'n It, Blank Northwest: Move Toward Final

7/13/08  The Lee County all-Stars took the field in Bryan tonight in fine fashion, blanking Northwest, 7-0.

Stone Clopton took a commanding role on the mound and kept his opponent's bats mostly silent until Ty Kasper came in to finish off the last couple of batters for Northwest.

Lee County will wait to see who they will play, the winner of tomorrow night's Game 7.

The team will play again on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

Game Set For Tonight @ 8

7/13/08  Lee County will play Northwest who beat Harvey Saturday night, 13-1. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Bryan.

LC All-Stars Dump Tyler: Move To 2nd Game

7/12/08  The 10 & 11 year old Lee County All-star team dumped the squad from Tyler on Friday night in Bryan, claiming a 11-1 game one victory.

Cody Medack pitched for Lee County, holding back any credible offensive attack and allowing Lee County to clinch the game one victory in the 4th inning when it was called on a 10 run rule.

Lee County awaits the winner of tonight's 8:00 p.m. match-up between Harvey and Northwest. Harvey beat Bastrop on Friday night by a score of 10-0.

Lee County will play either Harvey or Northwest on Sunday at 8:00 p.m.

All-Stars Claim Championship Banner Over Washington County

7/7/08  Anytime a Lee County team manages to beat Washington County it's a Big Day. When a Lee County team goes undefeated and knocks the "Green Team" out of the championship it's a Really Big Day.

Team with Banner

10&11 Year Old Champions: Kneeling (r to l) Michael Rocha, Joey Satterfield; Standing (r to l) Tyler farr, Aaron Markert, Stone Clopton, W.E. Meuth, Cody Medack, Clay Urban, Zach Bishop, Ty Kasper, Tanner Mitchan; Manager: Kenny Urban, Coach: Steven Medack

The 10 & 11 year old all-star team took control early, claiming a 3-0 lead in by the end of the 1st inning.

Well placed hitting and good running skills, combined with sluggish pitching by the WC squad, allowed Lee County to get off to good start.

Ty Kasper started off on the mound for Lee County, doing a fantastic job for all of four innings. (Photo: Kasper on the mound)

Stone Clopton came on to pitch (after playing catcher for four innings) for LC in the 5th inning after WC scored in the 2nd and 3rd innings. By the middle of the 5th inning the score was tied, 3-3.

The score remained tied at 3 as the game went into extra innings. Lee County had the advantage of being the Home team. (Photo: Clopton on the mound)

Washington County mounted an offensive attack and had the go-ahead runner at the plate with their tying runner on second base. The WC batter hit a fly ball that dropped deep into left field and the runner from second was sent home. (Photo: Joey Satterfield places a nice bunt that rolls foul)

Tanner Mitchan hurled a throw to home plate (from left field) and catcher W.E. Meuth attempted to make the tag.

The runner was called out on a "judgment call" at home plate (it was close, very close). The WC coach and the WC crowd went crazy. (Photo: CF Satterfield makes a catch)

Lee County would get another attempt to score, with the top of the line-up in position to bat in the bottom of the 7th.

With two outs and the go-ahead run (Ty Kasper) on third base , Cody Medack tapped a little blooper that fell between the pitcher and the short stop. Medack beat out the throw to first allowing Kasper to score from third.

Lee County beat Washington County in the bottom of the 7th, 4-3.

The team will advance to Sectionals on Friday in Bryan where they will play the Tyler champions.

LC 9 & 10 Year Olds Fall To Weimar 15-5  (7/7/08)

10 & 11 Year Old Boys Play For Title Tonight

7/7/08  The Lee County (LC) 10 & 11 year old boys are set to play for the District 13 championship title tonight in Columbus. The LC group will go head to head with Washington County (WC) at 7:00 p.m.

The contest is a double elimination tournament where Lee County has remained undefeated and WC has one loss. If LC is able to get the win tonight the tournament is over and LC is the champ.

If Washington County pulls off the upset then the two will meet again tomorrow and the winner of that game will claim the crown. Bracket

The Lee County squad has remained on the top side of the bracket throughout the competition. They began the tournament on June 27th beating longtime rival LaGrange by a score of 3-0. Next they met Burleson County on June 30th and defeated them, 10-2. LC continued  to battle knocking off Waller County in a tight game, 1-0.

Washington County came to the final round the hard way. After winning in their first outing with Sealy, 18-2, they were sent to the bottom of the bracket by Waller County. Waller County beat WC on June 30th, 4-1. WC was then faced with winning three games on three straight nights.

They beat Bellville on July 1st, 5-4; Burleson County on July 2nd, 5-2; and then got even with Waller County - avenging their game two loss by a final of 11-3.

Lee County has played three games, Washington County has played five. Pitchers must have a game and a day worth of rest.  In a Little League game, where pitching is key, we will find out who has the most depth on the mound and who can mount the best offensive attack to combat the opposing teams pitching power.

Log on to LeeCountyLive.com tonight for game results.

Lee County Roster: Stone Clopton, Ty Kasper, W.E. Meuth, Cody Medack, Tyler Farr, Joey Satterfield, Michael Rocha, Aaron Markert, Zach Bishop, Tanner Mitchan, Clay Urban (This line-up includes all members of the team and is listed in no particular order.)

LC Major Girls Lose Game: Play With Heart

7/3/08  The Lee County Major Girls All-Stars gave it everything they had, but came up short tonight falling to Twin Cities by a score of 12-2.

The Lee County squad failed in a valiant attempt to keep up with the Twin Cities offensive attack.

This group of girls can hold their heads up high, they have a great future to look forward to and the 2009 season to try again.

The greatest test of courage on earth is to bear defeat without losing heart.

10 & 11 All-Stars Head To Finals

The Lee County 10 & 11 year old boys all-star team nipped Waller County by a score of 1-0.

The win takes the Lee County crew to the final championship round which is scheduled to begin on July 7th at 7 p.m. Lee County will play either Washington or Waller County. The tournament is a double elimination tournament and Lee County is undefeated so if either of these two teams beats Lee County they will play again on July 8th at 7 p.m. in Columbus to determine a champion.

Major Girls Take First Loss

The Lee County major girls took their first loss in a close game that ended with Washington County on top, 3-2.

Lee County will play Twin Cities on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Columbus to try and get back into the final.

LC Junior Boys Knocked Out Of The Tournament

The Lee County Junior boys were knocked out of the tournament suffering a 9-8 loss to Columbus.

The team found themselves in a must win situation and played with pride and integrity night after night. This group of guys represented Lee County well.

9 & 10 Year All-Stars Edge Out Washington County (Updated)

7/1/08  The Lee County (LC) 9 & 10 year old boys mounted a sixth inning comeback to take down Washington County (WC) tonight in Brenham.

The squad was behind 5-2 when they came to the plate for their last "at bat". Well placed hitting and an end-of-the-game struggle by the WC defense allowed LC to bring home the victory.

The big win means LC will maintain their undefeated tournament record. With tonight's success the guys won't have to travel back to Brenham for another game until July 7th. The most important part of the win has to be the confidence the team gained by overtaking the, usually confident, Washington County group on their home field.

Lee County will meet Weimar who beat Rice 14-4 to remain in the winners bracket. Washington County slips to the losers half of the bracket and will have to win at least three straight contests to get a shot at the championship game which will be played on July 9th or 10th.

Junior Boys Slam Sealy

7/1/08  The Lee County Junior boys got back into the win column Tuesday by slamming the Sealy squad, 18-6. The victory bring the teams tournament record to 2-1.

L C rebounded tonight after losing to Washington County, 15-5, on Saturday.

LC will jump right back into the mix when they meet Columbus on Wednesday. Columbus advanced, beating Waller County, 13-3. Columbus' tournament record matches Lee County's record at 2-1. Columbus' loss was to Lee County ,13-7, on June 26th.

The tournament is being played in Navasota.

Major Boys Knock Out Rice , Lose To Columbus

7/1/08  We overlooked the the major boys who knocked Rice out of the tournament Monday out scoring them 15-6. We have been trying to keep up with all the scores, especially when Lee County wins big. Sorry for the lapse.

The boys traveled back to Bellville tonight and were shut down by Columbus, 10-0.

Lee County lost their first game to LaGrange, 24-2. They worked hard to come up with the win over Rice but couldn't get any offence going against Columbus.

All-Stars Shine In Columbus

Monday, June 30  Two Lee County Little League teams came out on top in tournament games that were held in Columbus on Monday night.

Girls Stun Sealy: The major girls team put on a show against Sealy beating them 11-4. Lee County rallied in the 3rd and 4th innings using well placed hits, including a bases loaded triple by pitcher Kristen Rodriguez, to stun the Sealy defense. Lee County managed a 10-2 lead by the middle of the 4th inning.

Rodriguez pitched the first four innings then Callie Gerdes came in from centerfield to relieve her in the 5th. Rodriguez, who spent most of the 5th inning at third base, came back to the circle in the 6th inning to finish the game. (Photos by Gail Gerdes)

Gerdes pitched well but team manager Bobby Garcia pulled her so that she is eligible to pitch in Wednesday night's game. If a pitcher pitches more than one inning she must have a game and a day of rest before pitching again.

Lee County still has two fresh pitchers, Callie Gerdes and Paige Garcia and will meet Washington County on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Washington County advanced to Wednesday's round beating Twin cities by a score of 11-8. Both Lee County and Washington County are undefeated.

The win allows LC to advance in the winners bracket, they will take on Washington County (WC) on Tuesday, July 1st. WC has two teams in the tournament LC will meet the WC American squad at Hohlt Park in Brenham at 8 p.m.

Major Boys Shocked By LaGrange

The Lee County (LC) Major boys team fell to LaGrange by a score of 24-4 on Saturday night.

Junior Boys Come Up Short Against "The Green Team"

LC moves to game two tonight, they will battle LaGrange at 6 p.m. The tournament is being held at Hohlt Park in Brenham.

Major Girls Slam Waller County in Game One Of Tourney

06/27/08  The Lee County (LC) major girls team slammed Waller in game one of their tournament which started today.

The team claimed the win when the game was called because of a fourth inning run rule. The final score was 21-2.

LC was able to use different pitchers for each of the innings, this will allow any of them to "work in the circle" when they play again on Monday. The tournament is being held in Columbus, Lee County will play at 8 p.m.

The Lee County squad battled back from the losers bracket to make it to the final where they claimed second place.

This group of 7 & 8 year olds can be very proud of themselves. Not many teams (even kids that are older and more mature) are able to work their way back to the championship game after losing and then having to travel to play game after game.

Girls with guts, coaches who care and supportive parents... Lee County can expect great thing from these young ladies in the years to come.
